The Beginning

Anthony’s love for jewellery started at a young age, encouraged by his mother’s successful antiques business. In 1978, he got his first job at a jewellers in Ascot as an apprentice goldsmith, allowing him to learn and understand the fundamentals of jewellery making and what it takes to run a successful jewellery business.

After several years working and understanding the trade, Anthony thought it was time to provide his expertise, craftsmanship and eye for buying second-hand jewellery under his own name.

The Beginning

Equipped with the skills he learned as a goldsmith and an eye for vintage and antique jewellery 1982 was the year Anthony opened his own shop in Farnham Common. Following his growing success, and recognising that customers were travelling far to visit the shop, Anthony enlisted the help of his partner Corina to open our flagship boutique in Windsor in 1986.

1988 Was a special year for us as it marked the beginning of our journey serving those who lived in the beautiful town of Henley-on-Thames. With a demand for antique and vintage pieces, the Henley boutique began to present some of the finest pieces which are still loved and worn by our long-time customers today.

As our success grew and more and more people travelled for our jewellery and services we found ourselves in Marlow, opening our outlet store under the name of Jacksons, the family name of our founder.

During this decade, Anthony’s two sons George & Joe became old enough to join their father on days in the workshop, slowly beginning to learn and understand the things that would ensure they could successfully take over in the future. From sweeping up filings off the workshop floor to changing watch batteries for customers, Joe and George began to gain the same passion and knowledge their father gained from working with their grandmother.

“As kids we were always brought into Anthony Paul, we used to run around, probably terrorising the workshop upstairs. It was a really exciting place for us to come and explore”
George Jackson

1998 was the year our goldsmith Nick joined the team, becoming an integral part of Anthony Paul Jewellery. Starting off with simple repairs and growing to take on our best and biggest commissions and restorations, Nick progressed into a master goldsmith and is still creating and repairing pieces for us to this day.

As time went on and Corina and Anthony took on more members of staff, the company grew to have four successful shops in neighbouring towns, with refurbishments to our Windsor and Henley branch commencing, our boutiques were always putting their best foot forward and our stock and clientele continued to grow.

As some of our locations had been around for 20 years by this point, Anthony and Corina were delighted to see a second generation of customers come in, as parents who once commissioned wedding bands for themselves began to refer their children to Anthony Paul.

It was 2006 & 2008 when George and Joe came into the company full time and after training them to independently run the boutiques, Anthony steps away from day to day running whilst Corina guided the brothers and continued her integral role to help all four boutiques with customer appointments, accounting and back-office work in addition to recruiting valuable staff.

This era of Anthony Paul Jewellery was the era for a lot of change. With Anthony’s son’s and Corina ensuring the business was operating smoothly and successfully, 2011 marked the year Anthony was abe to work on passion projects in Wales such as the restoration of a listed farm and its buildings and eventually taking on and creating one of our proudest achievements- building our own Hydro dam and producing our own fully sustainable and renewable energy.

In 2016 Corina joins Anthony in stepping away from day-to-day running of the business, yet both still assist and continue their involvement with Anthony Paul by helping with bookkeeping and buying in exceptional pieces of jewellery. Anthony’s daughter Millie also joins the company helping with accounting, filing and general administration.

After the catastrophic Covid19 pandemic, George & Joe were ready to get back to business and continue working on new and exciting projects. Although customers were able to have virtual appointments and curbside pick-up of repairs and commissions, the brothers were keen to get back to business as usual. With all the freetime Joe took the opportunity to create an exciting website for the company, giving customers from all over the UK an opportunity to shop with us.

Anthony’s sons are now the third generation to work in jewellery and proudly continue the APJ legacy whilst working hard to modernise the business and set the benchmark in sustainability and green practices. Working together to carefully combine traditional skills and knowledge with exciting, new techniques they both work hard to ensure the company’s future. The brothers are driven by their passion for goldsmithing and antique jewellery, as well as a personal drive to look after our planet in the process.

“As kids we were always brought into Anthony Paul, we used to run around, probably terrorising the workshop upstairs. It was a really exciting place for us to come and explore” -George Jackson

“You can’t tell what they’re going to do when they’re young - I’d hope they’d go into it and they have done, so I’m really, really pleased and feel confident about the future.”
Anthony Jackson
“Sustainability is a massive part of the family drive.”
Joe Jackson
“We are with you every step of the way, we’re there for all your jewellery requirements, we’re here for life.”
George Jackson

“Originally I thought I was going to open my own shop, but with such a great legacy and name it made sense to come into the family business.”
Joe Jackson
